Muon Space seeks a Principal Software Engineer to synthesize the full Muon software architecture and roadmap for mission design in San Jose, CA. This leader guides the evolution of the common platform to meet customer needs while aligning with market demands.

You will partner with Business Development, Product Management, Systems Engineering and Hardware, identifying risks and opportunities to deliver value on time.

Qualifications

• Experience designing large-scale software systems for aerospace/robotics domains.
• Proven ability to guide architecture and roadmap decisions.
• Strong negotiation skills in technical contexts.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages.
• Experience with distributed systems theory and practice.

Responsibilities

• Work with Business Development to prioritize staffing for high-impact projects and guide them to timely impact.
• Ensure major customer needs are captured in plans and product roadmaps.
• Oversee architectural standards and guardrails to maintain velocity, security, reliability, and performance.
• Support Customer Solutions Software Engineers in customer engagements and serve as escalation point for design questions.
• Align software plans and roadmaps for missions with the company strategy.
• Help define training plans for software engineering.
