Job summary

CST Industries, Inc. in Kansas City, MO seeks a Project Manager to serve as the single point of contact for customers across order acceptance, engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance and shipping.

You will coordinate with Sales, Engineering and Production to keep projects on schedule and within scope, driving issues to resolution. You will review drawings, manage changes, and ensure timely communication to all stakeholders while coordinating installation logistics and contractor readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or other technical discipline.
• 5-7 years of industrial or commercial based Project Management, with a proven track record of managing projects successfully.
• Basic knowledge of bolted and welded steel tanks.
• Background in municipal, industrial, and commercial based projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as single point of contact for customers through order acceptance, engineering, manufacturing, quality, financial and shipping phases.
• Assume communications with customer upon hand off from Sales, including negotiations and resolving issues.
• Serve as primary point of contact for all project-related communications with internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and manage detailed project schedules and work plans and monitor progress to ensure delivery.
• Coordinate with Engineering to approve packages, track engineering due dates and resolve issues.
• Review customer drawings and specifications to initiate internal and external change orders.
• Communicate production timelines to meet overall project plan during engineering to production handoff.
• Coordinate with Production Scheduling to meet production completion and delivery windows.
• Inform relevant departments of project details and issue RFIs as needed.
• Handle shortage or quality issues for each Project Order while erection contractor is on-site.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
• Manage and drive all other project-related issues.

Job description

The Project Manager will act as a single point of contact for customers through the order acceptance, engineering, manufacturing, quality, financial and shipping phases. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to coordinate across multiple departments and stakeholders, including Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Shipping and Construction departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assume all communications with customer upon hand off from Sales, including working through negotiations and solving project related issues


• Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications with internal and external stakeholders.


• Develop and manage detailed project schedules and work plans, while monitoring progress of projects and adjusting as needed to ensure successful project delivery.


• Coordinating with Engineering during the Engineering phase including the approval packages of each project. Ensure we are tracking toward our engineering due dates and resolving all outstanding engineering issues between the company and customer.


• Review customer drawings and specifications to initiate internal and external change orders.


• Upon submittal of Engineering to Production, communicate with Production Scheduling to ensure we are tracking toward production completion date to meet the overall Project plan.


• Upon production completion and handover to shipping, communicate to ensure we understand delivery time frames to coordinate our Contractor's arrival to site for installation.


• Communicate specific project details to the appropriate departments, including issuing RFIs to customer and coordinating all information needed by Engineering.


• Handle all shortage issues and/or manufactured quality issues for each associated Project Order while Erection Contractor is on-site.


• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.


• Manage and drive all other project related issues with the project order

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or other technical discipline

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee works in the office of a manufacturing plant environment with normal exposure to noise, dust, and hazards associated with working in a high traffic, heavy machinery, manufacturing plant. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM (may vary by area in department). Job requires overtime. Work hours may change at Management's discretion with prior notice.
