Job summary

Overland AI is seeking a Software Engineer for Mission Autonomy to build software enabling one operator to coordinate multiple autonomous platforms. You will translate operator intent into coordinated, adaptable behaviors across assets, leveraging your robotics software background to push autonomy capabilities forward.

The role focuses on planning, multi-robot coordination, and rapid prototyping to deliver end-to-end mission capability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience as a software engineer for an autonomous robotics company.
  • 2+ years of experience developing in Python in a Linux development environment.
  • Experience in either planning, mapping, or perception.
  • Experience with simulation tooling.
  • Working knowledge of robotics interface software such as ROS 2, MAVLink and Cursor on Target (CoT).
  • Experience with military messaging protocols such as Cursor on Target (CoT) and TAK.
  • Experience with robotic decision-making frameworks ranging from classical (behavior trees) to state-of-the-art (LLM-based).
  • Self-starter who is excited to define the art of possible in a rapidly evolving field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop AI-powered orchestration functionality that enhances multi-robot execution.
  • Leverage terrain-aware mission planning capabilities to support autonomy.
  • Design interfaces to pass task and status information between mission software and assets.
  • Integrate new vehicle types into the Mission Autonomy framework.
  • Rapidly prototype software solutions for fast feedback and longer-term development.
