Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering Leader to head multidisciplinary teams across product lifecycles in Alabama. You will drive design & analysis, ensure performance, and mentor engineers while coordinating with senior leadership and stakeholders.

Responsibilities include leading engineering execution, managing budgets and schedules, and guiding development through test and production phases, while acting as technical authority across multiple product lines.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• 12+ years in design/analysis of mechanical systems, or 10+ years with an MS.
• Mission-focused and capable of contributing to a high-performing team.
• Experience leading large multi-disciplinary engineering design teams preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical team to design products that meet requirements, on schedule and within budget.
• Serve as the program’s technical lead for engineering execution, system performance, and compliance across product lifecycles.
• Communicate technical progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior leadership and government stakeholders.
• Provide technical direction and oversight to subsystem leads, IPTs, and specialty engineering disciplines.
• Ensure design maturity, integration, and risk mitigation.
• Mentor and develop technical staff.
• Guide the launcher program through development, test, production, and sustainment activities.
• Serve as technical authority across multiple product lines and configurations.
