Job summary

SmartRecruiters, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented project coordinator to manage detailing operations and keep projects on schedule.

You will work with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure clear communication with clients and timely delivery of drawings and documents. The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to solve problems, and a focus on maintaining project quality and safety standards on site when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/undergraduate degree or equivalent from four college or accredited institution; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and safety requirements (AISC, AWS, ASTM, OSHA) preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and maintain strong customer orientation.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review contract documents to determine scope of material and coordinate turnover with sales.
  • Coordinate incorporation of shop and erection drawings.
  • Process RFIs, including writing, reviewing, modifying, confirming legitimacy, and communicating with customers.
  • Review shop and erection drawings prior to distribution and emphasize schedule adherence.
  • Coordinate with production control for drawing log/load list.
  • Create and maintain the load list for each project and assist detailers with questions or missing fabrication files.
  • Evaluate field problems and furnish field drawings as needed.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Project Manager and flag additional material needs.
  • Visit jobsites as necessary and ensure project expectations are met.
  • Manage time effectively to meet project demands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY: Oversees the detailing operations of assigned projects in conjunction with the project manager and project teams as necessary. Manages customer projects through various departments and provides on-going communication and support with internal and external clients to meet the objectives of the organization. Actively and positively support the overall culture of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Review all contract documents for determination of the scope material, including coordination with the sales department on turn over process.
  • Coordinate the incorporation of shop and erection drawings.
  • Process RFIs, including writing, reviewing, modifying, confirming legitimacy, and communicating with customers.
  • Responsible for reviewing shop and erection drawings prior to distribution and constantly communicating the importance of maintaining the schedule.
  • Responsible for coordinating with production control for drawing log/load list.
  • Create and maintain the load list for every project assigned and work with detailers of any shop questions and/or missing fabrication files.
  • Evaluate field problems and furnish field work drawing as needed.
  • Consistent communication with the Project Manager on assigned job and alert Project Manager of any additional materials needed.
  • Visit job as necessary and ensure that company interest and project expectations are being met.
  • Manage your time effectively as required to meet project demands.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prefer Bachelor/undergraduate degree (B.A/B.S.) or equivalent from four college or accredited institution; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of AISC, AWS, ASTM, and OSHA requirements preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Effective communication and strong customer orientation.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Additional Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to sit, occasionally stands and walks, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to talk or hear. Seldom lifts and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

General office and constant exposure to computer display. Occasional interaction with production employees in the fabrication facility.

In the office setting this is generally not a safety-sensitive position. However, you may be required to be on-site at a job site, in this case, you are required to follow all safety rules established by the contractor. A safety-sensitive position has been defined as one where the employee’s responsibilities impact the health and safety of themselves, coworkers and / or the public (in this case the end-user of our product). Most production and production support positions fall into this category. A pre-employment drug screening must be passed and continued random drugs screening will be administered if employment is offered - no exceptions.
