Job summary

Jefferson Blount St Clair Mental Health Authority is seeking a Mental Health Technician to provide direct client care in a residential setting, supervise residents, and support daily living skills. The role involves medication administration under Nurse Delegation, transport, and accurate EHR documentation.

You will work with the Program Coordinator and on-duty staff to ensure safety, compliance, and quality care for 3–30 clients across shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Alabama driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to be certified in the Nurse Delegation program.
• Successful background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct client care in a group home/residential setting.
• Monitor, supervise, and train residents in daily living skills.

Mental Health Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The position provides individual care, instruction, and supervision to residents in a Mental Illness Residential Program. This employee serves in the role of direct caregiver to a group of 3- 30 clients, depending on the specific cost center. This employee works directly with the Program Coordinator/Home Coordinator and staff on duty.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provides direct client care to the residents of the group home/ residential setting/treatment program.
• Monitors, supervises, and trains residents in daily/independent living skills.
• Provides support services for the home and the residents.
• Transports clients in accordance with schedule.
• Documents accurately and timely in the electronic health record
• Administration of medication and adherence to the Nurse Delegation program
• Completes required administrative and client -related paperwork.
• Meeting attendance and punctuality expectations, as well as appropriate monitoring and updating of timecard
• Maintenance of all necessary credentialing requirements
• Any and all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Ability to lead clients within group activities.
• Ability to supervise and direct the work of clients.
• Ability to evaluate problem situations of recipient care and treatment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma, or GED.
