Job description

Minnesota Remote Licensed Therapist, 1099 Contractor

Remote - United States

About the Remote Licensed Therapist (1099 Contractor) role at Headspace:

Headspace is currently seeking part-time, independently licensed contractor therapists to provide direct, virtual care as part of a multidisciplinary team. We are currently accepting applications from providers licensed in Minnesota.

Contractor therapists are asked to offer a minimum of 5 sessions/week, with the flexibility to offer additional sessions when needed. More is always welcome depending on your schedule. Please note that due to care demand and member scheduling fluctuations, it could take a number of weeks to achieve a consistent schedule.

The pay rate ranges vary by state and currently starts at $80-$85 per session for the state of Minnesota. Pay rates by state will be confirmed by recruiter during the interview process. Session length is 60 min for an intake and 45 min for a follow up appointment, with concurrent note-taking expected and included in the session rate. Session rates vary by individual and demand, and are determined based on a number of factors including location, licensure, experience, specializations and other relevant considerations.

All Headspace therapists must be licensed and reside in the US. Due to the nature of healthcare services provided to our customers, partners and members, all work must be provided in the U.S. Data, specifically personal health information may not be accessed, disclosed or used outside of the U.S. Please note that the U.S. is limited to the 50 states of the United States -- it does not include U.S. territories like Puerto Rico.

Why Work on the Headspace Network:
  • 12-month Headspace subscription. You will have access to amazing content not only for yourself, but for your members.
  • Daily Meditations offered with Eve
  • Flexibility! You make your own schedule/hours, all with the Headspace client network and systems at your fingertips
  • Malpractice insurance coverage
  • Learning and connection opportunities including free CE Courses
What you will do:
  • Provide high quality, innovative, tele-therapy to Headspace patients over a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform
  • Complete, sign and lock clinical case notes in EMR within 48 hours of session. Note completion is part of the session rate. Additional time should generally not be charged for session notes.
  • Maintain your personalized database to record proof of licensure, license updates, expiration dates, personal information, etc.
  • Keep your availability calendar up to date
  • Stay in regular communication with clinical leadership, checking work emails in a timely fashion and responding within 24 hours, even if not working
  • Work with a collaborative care team including health coaches, other therapists, psychiatrists, and external care providers
What you will bring:
  • Available to offer at least 5 sessions per week, with the ability to flex up when needed
  • Night and weekend flexibility a plus
  • Clinical competence in evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness, etc.) and measurement-based care
  • Knowledge, ability, and commitment to providing culturally responsive care
  • Ability and willingness to deliver concurrent documentation. The session rate compensates the clinician for care delivery and notes.
  • Willingness and confidence to integrate cutting-edge technology into all aspects of your care
  • Familiarity, comfort and confidence with care delivery technology - various applications, tech tools, google web-apps, video conferencing, EMR, etc. Tech-savviness is a must
  • A safe secure location with reliable internet connection to provide Zoom-based psychotherapy
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work within interdisciplinary teams
  • 3+ years experience providing clinical psychotherapy to individuals, couples or families
  • Experience with risk management and higher acuity cases
  • LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, or LPC
  • An independent clinical license to practice in good standing (without need for clinical supervision)
  • BC-TMH credential, if required by your state of license
Preferred (If applicable)
  • Licensure in multiple states is highly valued
  • Licensed psychologist with willingness to apply for (or is already enrolled) with PSYPACT
  • Adolescent or Spanish specialty
  • Familiarity with the Headspace app and content
  • Willingness to offer a few evening hours in your schedule to support member care flexibility
Privacy Statement

All member records are protected according to our Privacy Policy. Further, while employees and contractors of Headspace (formerly Ginger) cannot access Headspace products/services, they will be offered benefits according to the company's benefit plan. To ensure we are adhering to best practice and ethical guidelines in the field of mental health, we take care to avoid dual relationships. A dual relationship occurs when a mental health care provider has a second, significantly different relationship with their client in addition to the traditional client-therapist relationship—including, for example, a managerial relationship.

As such, Headspace requests that individuals who have received coaching or clinical services at Headspace wait until their care with Headspace is complete before applying for a position. If someone with a Headspace account is hired for a position, please note their account will be deactivated and they will not be able to use Headspace services for the duration of their employment.
