Summary
The MN Advocacy Manager, reporting to the Midwest Advocacy Director, oversees WWHA’s programs and daily operations in Minnesota, developing regional community and political insights. Some travel within Minnesota is required.
This is a remote role, but candidates must reside in Minnesota.
Essential Functions
- Engage with partner organizations, coalition members, abortion funds, allies, and the Whole Woman’s Health of the Twin Cities clinic staff, physicians, patients, and supporters.
- Exemplify excellent communication and diplomacy skills in both writing and speaking.
- Represent WWHA at coalition meetings and with partner organizations in the Twin Cities, accompanying the Advocacy Director to statewide meetings when appropriate.
- Foster collaboration, negotiation, problem-solving, and effective communication.
- Work with coalition organizations, legislators, vendors, and community groups to promote WWHA’s mission in Minnesota.
- Lead coalition projects aimed at improving conditions for independent providers and their patients.
- Coordinate with clinic leadership to align advocacy efforts with clinic needs.
- Report on program activities to the WWHA team.
- Assist in developing advocacy statements and gathering impact data to promote stigma change.
- Prioritize policies and strategies based on assessments and capacity.
- Manage multiple priorities, collaborating with partners and handling internal and external communications.
- Plan and execute educational programs, including training and community mobilization.
- Build and maintain relationships with pro-choice organizations, political, and community leaders, and cultivate new partnerships.
- Participate in and develop fundraising activities to support programs and regional growth.
- Collaborate with the development team on grant proposals and reports.
- Ensure positive representation of WWHA’s mission and programs to stakeholders and funders.
- Share local activities via website and social media in coordination with the Midwest Advocacy Director.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience and General Requirements
Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to reproductive rights, relationship management skills, and relevant experience, including:
- A commitment to reproductive decision-making rights.
- Passion, integrity, positivity, and self-direction.
- Project management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- Ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Social media proficiency.
- Ability to collaborate across diverse groups.
- Understanding of Minnesota’s policy and political landscape regarding abortion and progressive issues.
- Strong ties to Minnesota communities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fluency in English; Spanish skills are highly preferred.
