First Baptist Church of Morristown, Tennessee is a rapidly growing church in located between the mountains and lakes of East Tennessee.

Therefore, we have a number of opportunities available.

We have internships available in Worship, Students, Children, Missions, Discipleship, Pastoral, and Administrative areas. We can also accommodate a general internship that rotates through all ministries over the course of the assignment.

Role Description

The Ministry Intern (MI) is considered a temporary employee of First Baptist Church of Morristown, Tennessee. While interns work as employees, interns are temporary employees and do not receive the standard staff benefits.

As a Ministry Intern, you will both learn from and assist in work for the pastoral ministry staff, ministry support staff, and possible other employees of the church. By serving in this ministry development role, our goal is to help prepare you for a future ministerial role.

Job Duties
  • Serve in live ministry and office settings.
  • Observe, learn from, and be mentored by experienced pastoral staff.
  • Assist in ministerial projects and tasks as directed by pastoral staff.
  • Possibility of developing and/or managing new or existing ministries or projects/initiatives within ministries.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Educational Components
  • Learn to Biblically problem solve and troubleshoot issues that may occur in either ministerial, office, or even social situations.
  • Learn foundational leadership & management, and how to lead and manage Biblically.
  • Learn relevant communication skills from a Biblical and professional perspective.
  • Learn applicable technology useful for ministry, ministry-related tasks, and church operations.
  • Learn to establish and develop a strong and stable spiritual discipline and work ethic.
  • Learn how to research, develop, discern, and launch new projects, initiatives, policies, etc.
Commitment
  • Our typical internships are approximately three months in length.
  • We are structured to accept internships for the spring, summer, or fall seasons.
  • Summer 2026 internships are scheduled from Monday, May 19 to Friday, August 8 with the ability for the intern to have one-week off during this time.
Compensation
  • As a temporary employee of the church, a Ministry Intern does earn a stipend.
  • The stipend is based on the weekly hours assigned and will be established based on such factors as church needs, candidate education, experience, & skill set, and similar factors.
  • A limited number of free housing options are available to those who may need lodging.
