Job summary

Ferroglobe in Wallace, SC is seeking an experienced equipment operator to operate CAT 745 rock trucks and support safety and efficiency in a 24/7 operation. The role requires MSHA 5000-23 certification and 1+ year of mining/earthmoving experience, with the ability to work non-standard schedules and communicate clearly in English.

Candidates must be able to pass pre-employment screening and perform physical tasks, with willingness to work in potentially stressful environments and in a team

Qualifications

• 1+ years of machine experience in mining, quarry, construction, and/or earthmoving operations.
• Must have MSHA 5000-23 certification.
• Perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate CAT 745 rock trucks.
• May assist with training and mentoring of other equipment operators.
• Responsible for start-up/shut-down, parking, mounting/dismounting, emergency, fire procedures and coordination with ground personnel.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections of equipment.
• Communicate using two-way radio.
• May perform minor maintenance activities.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Will Do

• Operate CAT 745 rock trucks
• May assist with training and mentoring of other equipment operators
• Responsible for knowing the following procedures: start-up and shut-down, parking, mounting, and dismounting, emergency, fire, and working with ground personnel
• Performs pre-shift inspection of equipment
• Communicates using two-way radio
• May perform minor maintenance activities
• Performs other duties as required
• May be required to lift up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the work day
• May be required to work a non-standard schedule which may include shift work (other than day shift) in a 24/7/365 operation
• Willingness and ability to pass pre-employment, random, and post-incident drug and alcohol screening

What We Seek

Criteria/Working Conditions

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, and see
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the workday
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor or surface mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required
