Job summary

GHD is seeking a field environmental scientist/engineer to provide on-site environmental compliance monitoring for a major mining infrastructure project in the U.S. West.

You will work with project managers and contractors to ensure permits and client standards are met, while promoting safe, sustainable construction practices. The role requires hands-on field work, strong data collection, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, environmental science, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 3 years of technical experience supporting environmental compliance, construction monitoring, infrastructure projects, or related environmental programs.
• Work schedule of 14 days on site, 7 days off, 10-12 hour rotational shifts in Idaho.
• Experience conducting field inspections and environmental monitoring activities.
• Knowledge of dust control, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control practices, water quality monitoring, and environmental permitting/compliance requirements.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic field data collection tools.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Experience supporting remote mining, water management, and/or large-scale earthworks construction projects preferred.
• MSHA training, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification, or equivalent strongly desired.
• Ability and willingness to travel and work remotely in a full-time, field-based role.
