Kiewit Mining Group is seeking and Equipment/Mechanical Engineer Intern for summer 2027. The role supports Regional Construction & Mining operations, focusing on planning, scheduling, budgeting, and maintenance of an equipment fleet.

Expect to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic construction environment across multiple sites. This internship emphasizes safety, reliability, and collaboration with craft maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
• Ability to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August).
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, MET, Diesel Technology, or Automotive Technology.
• Access to all points of a construction site in varying climates and environments.

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Material handling and procurement.
• Create and maintain tool/filter lists and documentation.
• Inspections of equipment and parts.
• Logistics management and communication.
• Long/short range equipment planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Planning and paperwork processing for critical lifts.
• Use reliability and failure analysis data to increase equipment availability.
• Establish and maintain communications between supervision and management.
• Support maintenance technicians with parts, scheduling, and quality control.
