Job summary

GCC is a world-class company that produces, distributes and markets cement, ready-mixed concrete, aggregates, and related construction materials in the United States and Mexico. GCC seeks a mining/engineering professional to coordinate mine-related projects, manage teams and contractors, and support planning and safety initiatives.

You will apply AutoCAD and Carlson software for mine design and mapping, contribute to cost estimates, and prepare technical reports for management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with minimum five years of mining experience.
• Minimum three years’ experience with permitting, submittals, compliance and negotiations with local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and Carlson software as well as other industry applicable software.
• PE or EIT Certification, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• 3+ years project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mine-related engineering projects, including managing internal project employees, external contractors and support.
• Support Raw Materials Manager in assigned mine planning and processes and additional engineering projects as they arise; including but not limited to site issues, safety issues and structural - geological troubleshooting.
• Inspect mining areas for unsafe structures, equipment and working conditions.
• Support management in planning and executing mine planning, ventilation, roof control, mining advancements and related equipment; specify processes and equipment.
• Work with Raw Materials Manager in preparing schedules, reports, and estimates of the costs involved in developing and operating the mine(s).
• Prepare technical reports for use by management and outside engineering.
• Design, develop and implement computer applications using AutoCAD, Carlson software and Trimble for use in mining operations such as mine design, modeling or mapping or for monitoring mine conditions.
• Support safety and safety programs by assisting in deployment and sustaining the GCC Master Safety Plan; timely review of plan and updates.
