Job summary

Imerys, based near Birmingham, AL, seeks a Mining Engineer to drive short- to mid-term mining sequencing and life-of-mine planning. You will coordinate with mine leadership to optimize operations, support GPS surveying of monthly plans, and oversee material movements and capital expenditure requests.

Responsibilities include collaborating with management, optimizing haulage, bench layout, and drilling/blasting coordination, with travel up to 10% and 50% site time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting a mining operation.
• This role requires sitting up to 50% of work time and standing/walking up to 50% of work time.
• Travel up to 10% may be required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Mine Management and Division support personnel to extract minerals, considering safety, costs, deposit characteristics, overburden depth, and surrounding strata.
• Plan, coordinate, and participate in continuous mine studies to optimize the haulage fleet and equipment utilization.
• Lay out and direct mine operations, including benches and access roads, aiming for competency within one year.
• Design and coordinate ore drilling and blasting activities to develop necessary skills.
• Ensure a steady supply of crude ore for processing plants.
