Job summary

Heidelberg Materials is seeking an intern to apply classroom knowledge in field settings and support assigned project work at our Pennsylvania operations. You will collaborate with engineers, managers and production staff to help achieve production goals while learning the operations of a quarry or aggregate site.

You will participate in learning the missions of production, maintenance and quality, and will ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations as well as company

Qualifications

  • Current sophomores, juniors and seniors working toward a degree in Mining Engineering or Geology.

Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in assigned project work in the field.
  • Assist plant operations in achieving production goals with engineers, managers and production staff.
  • Complete technical projects to learn quarry/aggregate site operations and department functions.
  • Learn the mission of production, maintenance and quality departments and different job functions.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations and company policies.

What You'll Be Doing

Put your education into action in the field to support and participate in assigned project work. Support the plant operations in achieving production goals while partnering with experienced engineers, managers, and production employees in different departments. Complete technical projects to gain an understanding of the operations of a quarry or aggregate site. Learn the mission of the production, maintenance, and quality departments and different job and functions. Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

What Are We Looking For
  • Current sophomores, juniors and seniors working toward a degree in Mining Engineering or Geology
  • Commitment and engagement through a high level of work ethic and utilization of abilities for the best of the company
  • Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Work Environment

Combination of office and field work. Exposure to various weather conditions. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
