Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited is seeking a Mining Engineer Intern to gain hands‑on experience in the planning, design, and operational aspects of mining projects within a safety‑focused environment. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and geologists on resource estimation, mine design, and production optimization.

The roster is 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off, with the hiring point from Fairbanks, Alaska.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of mining engineering principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and review of mine plans and designs using Deswik.
• Key contributor in either the Drill & Blast, Projects, Pastefill, Planning or Geotechnical teams.
• Conduct UG visits to observe mining operations and collect relevant data for analysis.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe execution of mine plans.
• Work on technical projects as assigned by Senior Engineers.

This role is designed to provide you with practical exposure to mining engineering principles, including resource estimation, mine design, and production optimization. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers and geologists to support the development and implementation of efficient mining methods while adhering to environmental and safety regulations. The internship will also involve data collection, analysis, and reporting to contribute to ongoing projects and decision-making processes. Ultimately, this position aims to build your technical expertise and professional skills to prepare you for a successful career in the mining industry.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with mining software such as Deswik or Vulcan
• Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining industry.
• Previous internship or project experience related to mining operations.
• Basic understanding of geotechnical concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
