Job description

EMSL is seeking a Mineralogist in Cinnaminson, NJ. This position involves preparation and analysis of samples. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mineralogy identifying various materials using microscopy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Analyzing air, rock, soil and bulk materials for mineral fibers
  2. Identification of samples by Transmission Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive spectrometry and electron diffraction patterns
  3. Tests include: AHERA, NOB, 6480, 5755, ISO 10312 and 100.2
  4. Identification of samples by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM)
  5. Tests include: EPA 600-R-93-116 including NOB, NIOSH 9002, CARB M435
  6. Perform quality control practices per company quality assurance/quality control manual
  7. Assist with clerical and lab duties as needed, such as data entry, sample review and maintenance/calibration of laboratory instrumentation/equipment

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geology/Mineralogy
  2. Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  3. 1 to 5 years' experience with PLM, SEM or TEM and experience identifying asbestos and non-asbestos minerals
  4. Optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training a plus
  5. Prior experience with Digital cameras and EDXA systems, a plus
  6. Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
  8. Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance
  9. Must be willing to travel for training and work overtime

Available Shifts:
Position is full time, Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
