Position Overview

The Miner is responsible for safely and efficiently performing underground mining activities that support ore production at Bunker Hill Mine. This role performs a variety of underground mining, development, ground support, and material handling tasks while operating mining equipment and working collaboratively with the crew to meet production objectives. The successful candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform underground mining activities in accordance with mine plans, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Operate loaders, haul trucks, drills, bolters, utility vehicles, and other mining equipment as assigned.
• Complete scaling, mucking, drilling, blasting support, and ground support installation activities.
• Inspect work areas for hazards, ground conditions, and equipment issues before and during operations.
• Install and maintain rock bolts, mesh, screen, and other ground support systems.
• Load, haul, and transport ore and waste materials safely and efficiently.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
• Participate in pre-shift meetings, safety inspections, toolbox talks, and emergency response activities as needed.
• Accurately complete production, equipment, and safety documentation.
• Comply with all company policies, MSHA regulations, and environmental requirements.

Experience Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Previous underground or surface mining, heavy industrial, construction, or related experience preferred.
• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate underground mining equipment.
• Knowledge of mine safety procedures, hazard recognition, and risk management practices.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and follow mine plans, procedures, and work instructions.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to maintain mine site driving privileges.
• Underground hard rock mining experience, MSHA certifications, mechanical aptitude, and equipment maintenance experience are strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work underground in confined spaces and varying environmental conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, squat, and crawl for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and greater weights with assistance.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators where required.
• Ability to work around noise, dust, vibration, and heavy equipment.
• Ability to work extended shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and rotating schedules as operational needs require.
