Job summary

Hudbay Minerals U.S. Business Unit seeks a Mine Operator II in Sahuarita, AZ to build and maintain site roads and support various earthwork projects. Reporting to the Mine General Foreman, this full-time position requires hands-on operation of heavy equipment and adherence to safety standards.

The role emphasizes operating multiple machines, performing some routine maintenance, and helping train junior operators while contributing to efficient site development and project completion.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Five years of mining experience.
• Three years operating heavy machinery for roads/earthwork projects.
• Caterpillar/backhoe/water truck/tractor certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to build and maintain site roads and work areas.
• Operate equipment for construction of various projects around the site.
• Operate equipment such as grader, excavator, dozer, water trucks, haul trucks, backhoe, telehandler, skid steer.
• Identify changes to work areas and any potential hazards.
• Maintain equipment components to reduce damage and wear.
• May perform minor maintenance tasks.
• Build and maintain roads and earthwork around site.
• Assist training department to train new operators.
• Support other projects as needed.
