Coeur Rochester, a Coeur Mining, Inc. operation near Lovelock, Nevada, seeks a Mining Technology Systems Technician to support field-deployed mining technology systems across the site.

You will work with Mine Operations, Mobile Maintenance, Electrical, and Site IT teams to maintain fleet connectivity, RF infrastructure, and remote operational technology systems. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting in field environments and close coordination with operations.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of two-way radio systems, antennas, cabling, and basic RF principles.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely at heights, on mobile equipment, and in active mining environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Support technology systems installed on haul trucks and mobile mining equipment, including onboard networking hardware and connectivity infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot Driver Safety Systems (DSS) fatigue monitoring technology across the haul fleet (cameras, sensors, processing units, network connectivity).
  • Diagnostics, calibration checks, and coordination with Operations and Mobile Maintenance to ensure reliability and safety compliance.
  • Install, commission, and troubleshoot fleet technology systems supporting operational safety, monitoring, and production efficiency.
  • Install, support, and troubleshoot Rajant mesh network radios and associated communications hardware on mining equipment and infrastructure.

About The Job

Coeur Rochester, a subsidiary of Coeur Mining Inc. based near Lovelock, Nevada, is seeking a Mining Technology Systems Technician to join our IT / Mining Technology team at the Rochester Mine. The Mining Technology Systems Technician supports field‑deployed mining technology systems that enable safe, reliable, and continuous production operations across the site. This role works closely with Mine Operations, Mobile Maintenance, Electrical, and Site IT / Mining Technology teams to support fleet technology, wireless communications, RF infrastructure, and remote operational technology systems. These systems are production‑critical and safety‑related — directly supporting fleet connectivity, driver safety monitoring systems, and operational communications infrastructure required for safe and efficient mining activities. This position requires strong hands‑on troubleshooting capability, comfort working in field and industrial environments, and the ability to support a wide range of fleet, RF, and remote infrastructure technologies that keep the mine running.

Responsibilities
Fleet Technology & Mobile Systems
  • Support technology systems installed on haul trucks and mobile mining equipment, including onboard networking hardware, communications devices, and connectivity infrastructure.
  • Support and troubleshoot Driver Safety Systems (DSS) fatigue monitoring technology deployed across the haul fleet, including cameras, sensors, processing units, and network connectivity.
  • Perform diagnostics, calibration checks, and coordinate with Operations and Mobile Maintenance to ensure system reliability and safety compliance.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of fleet technology systems supporting operational safety, monitoring, and production efficiency.
Wireless Communications & Fleet Networking
  • Install, support, and troubleshoot Rajant mesh network radios and associated communications hardware on mining equipment and supporting infrastructure.
  • Perform cable testing, sweeping, RF validation, connectivity troubleshooting, and performance verification of fleet communications networks.
  • Support antenna systems, coaxial and fiber backhaul, and RF distribution components across the site.
Motorola Radio Networks & Communication Towers
  • Support and maintain the site‑wide Motorola two‑way radio system, including portable and mobile radios, control stations, dispatch consoles, and associated programming via Motorola CPS / RadioCentral.
  • Install, program, and troubleshoot Motorola repeaters, base stations, and linked site infrastructure supporting voice communications across pit, plant, and remote operational areas.
  • Perform ground‑level inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on communication tower infrastructure, including antennas, transmission lines, connectors, grounding systems, lightning protection, tower lighting, and shelter equipment.
  • Conduct sweep testing and RF performance validation in coordination with qualified tower contractors who perform any at‑height work.
  • Maintain backup power systems at tower sites, including UPS, batteries, rectifiers, and solar/charging systems supporting continuous radio coverage.
  • Support RF coverage analysis, intermod troubleshooting, frequency coordination, and FCC licensing compliance in coordination with vendors and the IT Superintendent.
  • Partner with vendors (e.g., KNS Communications) on system upgrades, repeater deployments, linked‑site expansions, and tower infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of radio fleet inventory, programming templates, codeplugs, tower assets, and site configurations.
Remote Infrastructure & Field Technology
  • Support remote communications and technology systems deployed in operational areas throughout the mine site.
  • Assist with installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of field‑deployed networking, communications, and monitoring equipment.
  • Coordinate with Electrical, Operations, and vendor personnel to address infrastructure issues that impact remote technology systems.
  • Perform diagnostics and corrective maintenance on remote communications and networking equipment to ensure reliable connectivity and operational uptime.
Operational Support & Reliability
  • Respond to production‑impacting technology faults and perform troubleshooting and corrective maintenance on mining technology systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and validation of fleet technology, communications infrastructure, and field systems to ensure operational reliability.
  • Document repairs, failures, and configuration changes while coordinating with Operations, Mobile Maintenance, and IT.
Technology Deployment & Site Modernization
  • Assist with deployment, commissioning, and validation of new fleet technologies, RF systems, and remote communications infrastructure supporting site modernization initiatives.
  • Support technology infrastructure that enables future operational capabilities such as LTE connectivity, fleet automation systems, and advanced operational monitoring technologies.
General
  • Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, troubleshooting activities, inventory records, and technical procedures.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal departments to support mine‑site operations.
  • Follow company safety standards, cybersecurity requirements, and IT operational procedures.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, MSHA regulations, and site access requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized IT/MTS storage, workspaces, and equipment staging areas.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Required Skills And Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Hands‑on experience troubleshooting electronic, communications, or networked systems in industrial, mining, construction, or similar environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical diploma, associate degree, or relevant certifications in electronics, communications, networking, or IT preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience supporting fleet technology, RF/radio systems, or industrial communications infrastructure preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience with Motorola two‑way radio systems (e.g., MOTOTRBO, APX, CM/XPR series), including programming with Motorola CPS / RadioCentral.
  • Experience supporting communication tower infrastructure, including antennas, transmission lines, grounding, and tower‑mounted equipment.
  • Experience with Rajant mesh networks or similar mining/industrial RF platforms.
  • Experience supporting Driver Safety Systems (DSS), fatigue monitoring, or fleet telemetry technologies.
  • Familiarity with remote communications infrastructure, field networking systems, and off‑grid technology deployments.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, switching, and wireless networking.
  • Experience with cable testing, sweep testing, OTDR, or other RF/fiber validation tools.
  • Familiarity with FCC licensing requirements and frequency coordination for land mobile radio systems.
  • Experience with OT environments, industrial networking, or mining operations considered an asset.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Motorola MOTOTRBO/APX certifications, iNARTE, GROL, or vendor‑specific radio/RF certifications considered an asset.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Site‑based position located at Coeur Rochester mine near Lovelock, Nevada.
  • This role requires extensive travel throughout the mine site to support systems on mobile equipment, in plant facilities, and at remote field locations.
  • Work at or near communication tower sites is required; ground‑level tower support is expected, and any at‑height/climbing work is performed by qualified tower contractors.
  • The position may involve lifting equipment up to 50 lbs and performing tasks requiring bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Employees must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and dust.
  • Required PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and high‑visibility clothing; additional PPE may be required for certain tasks.
  • Walking and standing on uneven ground, steep slopes, and active mining areas may be required for extended periods.
  • Occasional support outside standard business hours may be required to address production‑impacting technology faults.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
