Job summary

U.S. Silica is seeking a Mine Equipment Operator to supervise mining activities and ensure safe operation at the Lovelock, NV site.

You will operate heavy machinery to excavate and move dirt, rock, and diatomaceous earth, following directives from the Mine Supervisor and training crew on safe practices. The role requires a strong safety mindset, the ability to multi-task outdoors in all seasons, and basic data entry or inventory duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have a strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Ability to multi-task at a fast pace in outdoor conditions.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• MSHA knowledge preferred; forklift, software, and warehouse experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Supervise mining operations and ensure safe mine operation.
• Operate equipment to excavate/move dirt, rock, and diatomaceous earth.
• Receive and follow supervisor instructions for material to move.
• Train subordinates on safe and efficient equipment operation.
• Inspect, clean, maintain, and lubricate equipment.
• Read daily cut sheets and relay to crew; observe grades and signals.
• Organize drill hole samples and manage stockpiles.
• Comply with safety, environmental regulations and policies.
• Assist with data entry, safety audits, and inventory as needed.
