Position Summary: The Mine Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining heavy equipment used in the mining and processing of sand. This role ensures safe, efficient, and effective operations in the sand mine, including excavation, material transport, and general site maintenance.

Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Operates a variety of heavy machinery, including bulldozers, loaders, excavators, and haul trucks.
- Performs daily inspections of equipment and reports any maintenance or safety issues.
- Loads and transports sand and other materials within the mine or to designated areas.
- Assists with stockpiling and loading materials for processing.
- Ensures consistent supply of raw materials to the plant for processing.
- Adheres to all safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE and following mine safety guidelines.
- Participates in safety meetings and training sessions.
- Monitors work areas to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Assists in maintaining clear work areas, ensuring roads and paths are accessible.
- Helps in managing the flow of trucks entering and exiting the mine.
- Collaborates with supervisors to ensure production targets are met.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ operating heavy equipment in a mining, construction, or similar environment.
- Familiarity with sand mining operations is a plus.
- Proficient in operating multiple types of heavy machinery.
- Strong understanding of mine safety regulations and equipment maintenance.
- Heavy equipment operator certification (preferred).
- MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) certification (preferred or willing to obtain).
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, and crawling (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, bright lights, dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats when needed.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
