Job summary

NewRange is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support rock storage facilities and open-pit mining projects in Minnesota. You will apply geotechnical theory to design, monitor instrumentation, and lead field programs.

Reporting to the Geotechnical Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage field investigations, and contribute to safety and project development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • PE license or active progress toward licensure is required.
  • Significant experience with rock storage facilities design and slope stability for open pit mining.

Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical field programs for rock storage facilities, mine pits, and groundwater containment design.
  • Coordinate drilling, instrumentation installation, and field investigations for analyses and design inputs.
  • Support scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility studies, and other project phases with stability and hydrology input.
  • Assess geotechnical risks and communicate findings to project leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage geotechnical project budgets and oversee contracts with consultants.
  • Perform additional duties to meet operational needs.
