Job summary

Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee is offering a Summer Internship in Field Engagement & Experience or Life Underwriting. You will work with your hiring manager and team to enhance underwriting support for advisors, clients, and Network Offices.

The program runs June–August 2027 on-site, with a transition to part-time during Fall 2027 and Spring 2028. Candidates must reside in the Milwaukee area and pursue a related undergraduate degree.

Qualifications

• Incoming junior or senior (expected graduation within 1-2 years).
• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Management, Communications, Operations, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Employer immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.

Responsibilities

• Support Life Underwriting teams in workflow and underwriting select cases.
• Partner with case managers and underwriters to support progression of life insurance applications and improve advisor/client experience.
• Help coordinate underwriting education efforts by creating presentations, training materials, and communications on best practices, processes, and digital tools.
• Research field feedback and insights to identify opportunities to enhance underwriting and field engagement.
