Wilson Elser in Milwaukee is seeking a Litigation Summer Law Clerk to support a fast-paced civil litigation team. You will assist with legal research, drafting pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation under seasoned attorneys.

The ideal candidate is a motivated, organized second-year law student with strong writing and research skills, available 20 hours/week in our Milwaukee office, with hybrid flexibility and exposure to state and federal matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Currently enrolled as a second-year law student for the 2024-2025 academic year at an accredited law school.
• Strong interest in litigation and trial practice; familiarity with litigation processes is a plus.

The Position

The Litigation Summer Law Clerk position is an excellent opportunity for someone who is ambitious, focused and organized to gain experience supporting a fast-paced team in a national law firm. The Law Clerk will assist our lawyers in all facets of state and federal civil litigation, including legal research, preparation of first drafts of pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and reports, and involvement in strategy sessions.

The position requires 20 hours per week, in-person, at our Milwaukee office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth legal and factual research to support active cases.

• Review documents for relevancy and legal issues, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Assist attorneys with discovery processes, trial preparation, and trial-related tasks, gaining hands-on experience in litigation.
• Collaborate with attorneys on drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and case strategy discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. Currently enrolled as a second-year law student for the 2024-2025 academic year at an accredited law school.
• Demonstrated experience or a strong interest in litigation and trial practice. Familiarity with litigation processes is a plus.
• Highly organized, goal-oriented, and efficient, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Previous work in a professional, fast-paced environment is preferred.
