Job summary

Beck & Pollitzer USA seeks an experienced Millwright Superintendent to lead millwright crews on large projects, coordinating with clients and project coordinators to meet safety, quality, schedule and budget objectives.

You will oversee daily site operations, interpret blueprints, manage resources, perform hands-on installations, and mentor crews while maintaining strong safety and communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 30-hour Construction OSHA required.
  • NCCER is preferred but not required.
  • 4+ years of experience in a Millwright Supervision role is required.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience as a Millwright is required.
  • Experience with heavy equipment installation and removal in Autostore or EV battery settings is highly desirable.
  • Rigging Experience preferred but not required.
  • Advanced Mechanical Knowledge: machinery and systems.
  • Precision Installation Skills: installation, alignment, and assembly.

Job description

Summary of Primary Functions:

The Millwright Superintendent manages Millwright crews on large-scale projects and maintains communication with clients and project coordinators. They are responsible for overseeing daily job site operations, ensuring that the company, employee, and customer needs are met. The superintendent utilizes available resources efficiently, while prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in all aspects of the project.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Direct and manage millwright crews, making sure work is completed on time, within budget, and in line with the project’s objectives.

  • Delegate jobs to millwrights based on their strengths and skill sets, ensuring the most efficient use of the team.

  • Work closely with electrical, piping, and rigging teams to ensure all aspects of the project are in sync and running smoothly.

  • Oversee the delivery and distribution of project materials, making sure everything arrives on time and is where it needs to be.

  • Regularly inspect the work done by the crews, making sure it meets the company’s quality standards and the project's specifications.

  • Help lead installations by interpreting blueprints and schematics, ensuring everything is assembled correctly.

  • Quickly identify and resolve mechanical issues as they arise on-site, minimizing delays and keeping the project moving forward.

  • Recognize potential safety risks and strictly enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.

  • Keep project managers updated on the progress of the job, highlighting milestones, and flagging any issues or incidents that may impact the timeline.

  • Developing and managing detailed work schedules for crews to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

  • While not the main point of contact, maintaining relationships with clients through regular communication, addressing any concerns or changes, and ensuring their expectations are met.

  • Anticipating future resource needs, including manpower and equipment, and coordinating procurement to prevent delays.

  • Conducting performance evaluations for millwright crew members, providing feedback, and addressing any performance issues


Experience, Qualifications and Key Competencies


  • 30-hour Construction OSHA required.

  • NCCER is preferred but not required.

  • 4+ years of experience in a Millwright Supervision role is required.

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience as a Millwright is required.

  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Proficient in operating and overseeing the use of cranes, hoists, and other heavy machinery.

  • Welding & Fabrication: Expertise in welding, cutting, and fabricating metal parts when needed for repairs or installations.

  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and crews while ensuring workprogressesaccording to schedule and budget.

  • Safety Compliance & Hazard Identification: Strong understanding of safety standards and regulations, with the ability to enforce them on-site.

  • Materials & Resource Coordination: Experienced in managing materials, tools, and equipment for large projects, ensuring timely availability.

  • Structural & Mechanical Installation: In-depth knowledge of structural and mechanical installations, including pumps, conveyors, and industrial systems.

  • Leadership & Crew Supervision: Proven ability to lead and mentor millwrights, providing guidance and ensuring the team’s efficiency.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective in conveying technical information to team members and coordinating with other departments or contractors.

  • Client-Facing Communication: Comfortable interacting with clients, addressing project progress, and resolving concerns when necessary.

  • Rigging Expertise: Skilled in rigging practices for moving and installing heavy or oversized machinery and equipment.

  • Troubleshooting Advanced Systems: Experience diagnosing issues in complex systems, such as hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated machinery.
