Job summary

Cascades is hiring a Millwright/Mechanic in Rockingham, NC. You will work full-time on the day shift (4/10) from 7:00am to 5:30pm, with mandatory on-call rotation. The role offers an hourly wage between $22.00 and $30.00, plus benefits, retirement plan, and profit-sharing opportunities.

Responsibilities include dismantling and reassembling equipment, reading blueprints, and performing installations and repairs with a focus on safety and teamwork. Must lift up to 50 lbs and have own tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Preferably a 2-year technical degree in Industrial Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years related experience in an industrial environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read schematics are essential.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle equipment for repair or transport and reassemble it when needed.
• Read and understand necessary blueprints and schematics.
• Comply with supervisor instructions and safety rules.
• Proficient in installation, maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with operations on repairs, seals, alignment, and pumps; basic rigging knowledge.

What you’ll do

As a Millwright / Mechanic, you’ll be at the heart of operations - right on the floor where materials take shape. Your day-to-day:

• Dismantle equipment when required for repair or transportation and reassemble it at the appropriate time.
• Candidate will be able to read, understand necessary blueprints and schematics.
• Comply with other requests from immediate supervisor.
• Proficient in the installation, maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work with operations and maintenance on repairs to equipment that include but are not limited toreplacement of mechanical seals, installation and alignment of rotating equipment, repairs to fans and blowers, repairs to reciprocating, centrifugal and screw compressors and pumps, basic knowledge of rigging and flagging.

Your strengths as a Millwright / Mechanic

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to read and write legibly.
• The candidate should preferably have at least a 2-year technical degree in Industrial Maintenance / mechanical Engineering/ related degree or Minimum of 2 years related experience.
• Mechanical/Industrial or two years of experience in an industrial environment
• Relevant papermill experience in lieu of direct maintenance experience would be considered
• Must have mechanical aptitude.
• Self-motivated and must work well with others as part of the team as well as independently without supervision.
• Must be able to work at a fast pace, stable under pressure and organized, while staying within safety rules and regulations.
• Must be safety, quality, productivity and teamwork oriented.
• Must be willing and flexible to do overtime for coverage even on short notice.
• Must be willing to participate in team work to do procedures, health and safety work teams, and any other problem-solving projects.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs in a stretching manner. Position involves lots of physical work including lifting, bending, climbing steps, and standing for extended period of time
• Must have own tools
