Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is seeking a qualified Millwright / Maintenance Technician to support our Anderson, CA sawmill operations. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and fabricating parts as needed.

You will work with manual mills and lathes, welders, cutting torches, forklifts, and cranes while ensuring safe, efficient production. Overtime and weekends may apply during busy periods.

Qualifications

• 2 years recent verifiable sawmill/heavy industrial work history or equivalent education.
• Experience machining on manual mill and lathe.
• Proficient in welding, cutting, and using hand tools for repairs.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and bearings.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical defects.
• Industrial mill maintenance experience is a plus.
• Boom truck and crane operation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair mechanical parts and machinery in a manufacturing facility.
• Troubleshoot, install, replace, and repair machines including hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Dismantle machinery to locate malfunctions and fabricate parts as needed.
• Fabricate components for repairs and improvements.
• Conduct diagnostic tests to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Assemble and maintain mechanical systems for efficient operation.
• Operate arc welder, cutting torch, forklift, and welding truck.
• Fabricate, weld, mill, and lathe as required.
• Perform general maintenance safely and keep a clean workspace.
• Work may include various shifts and overtime.

Currently, we are seeking a qualified Millwright / Maintenance Technician to work collaboratively with our sawmill in Anderson, California.

About The Position

• Maintain and repair all mechanical parts and machinery in a manufacturing facility
• Troubleshoot, install, replace, and repair machines and equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
• Dismantle machinery and equipment, locate cause of malfunctioning or mechanical breakdown, replace parts from stock or fabricate replacement parts as needed
• Fabricate machine components for repairs and improvements of mechanical devices
• Effectively conduct and assess diagnostic tests to ensure optimum system functionality
• Assemble, install, and proactively maintain mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment for efficient operation
• Operate arc welder, cutting torch, hand tools, forklift, and welding truck
• Fabricate, weld, mill, and lathe as needed
• Perform general maintenance in a safe and efficient manner and maintain a clean work area
• Work may consist of various shifts and overtime including weekends and holidays during busy production times

Qualifications

• 2 years recent verifiable related sawmill/heavy industrial work history or equivalent education
• Working experience machining on manual mill and lathe
• Proficient in welding, cutting, and using hand tools for repairs
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and bearings
• Ability to recognize, report, and repair mechanical defects
• Industrial mill maintenance experience is a plus
• Boom truck and crane operation experience preferred
