Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Houston is seeking an entry-level crafts assistant to support skilled trades under direct supervision. You will learn to use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble and align machinery, and you will help prepare foundations and install components according to project specifications.

This role emphasizes safety, following instructions, and teamwork; you will work outdoors in all weather conditions and may be required to work overtime.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to use hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble and align machinery and install all other items
• Assist with reviewing and verifying inventory of equipment/machine components; checking accuracy of line and grade of existing foundation; prepare foundation for grouting and/or machinery placement; establishing and use centerlines and bench marks; establishing proper elevation of subsole and sole plates; set and aligning machine components; mix and place all types of grout;
• Assist skilled craftsman when they torque equipment and machinery; properly rig equipment and machinery and direct crane operators on placement of same. Test all installed machinery and equipment and make all necessary adjustments and/or repairs, if any.
• Assist with dismantling machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools; moving machinery and equipment using hoist, dollies, rollers and trucks;
• Assist with the assembly and installation of equipment; aligning machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, micrometers and plumb bobs; assembling machines and attaching them to foundations or other structures according to project specifications.

• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)

• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required by the workload
