Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Port Arthur, TX seeks a Lead Construction Supervisor to organize crew, materials, and equipment while aligning with project budgets and quality standards. You will coordinate with superintendents and project management to maximize productivity and safety on site.

You will inspect progress, maintain reports, help plan weekly schedules, and ensure tasks meet deadlines and costs.

Qualifications

  • May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill to perform all essential functions of craft workers under supervision.
  • Ability to plan tasks to safely and efficiently carry out work, train safety practices, policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling, material control, unit manhour performance, estimating fundamentals and job cost management systems.
  • Ability to understand and transmit written and oral instructions to supervisees and management.
  • Must be a good communicator, motivator, and team player.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Superintendent and Project Management to organize crew, materials, and equipment for productivity, quality, and cost goals in line with the budget.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment, and sites to verify safety and ensure specifications are met.
  • Maintain accurate reporting records including job quantities, productivity rates, time sheets and daily management reports.
  • Assist in developing a weekly schedule and sequencing activities for the crew.
  • Ensure timely completion of work within estimated costs while upholding quality workmanship.
  • Ensure crew safety and enforce all company and government safety rules.
  • Lead toolbox meetings and communicate safety concerns, scope, plans and schedules to crews.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies.
  • Continuously check the work of crew and adjust plans as needed.
  • Prioritize workload within defined budget.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Examine and inspect work progress, equipment and construction sites to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met.
  • Maintain accurate reporting records including job quantities, productivity rates, time sheets and daily management reports.
  • May assist in developing a weekly schedule and in carrying out sequence of activities for assigned crew.
  • Responsible for timely completion of work assignments within the estimated costs while maintaining the company’s reputation for quality workmanship/product.
  • Responsible for safety of those on the crew and will conduct all operations according to all applicable company and government safety rules.
  • Will develop and maintain a proper crew attitude by conducting toolbox meetings and communicating safety concerns, work scope, plans and schedules to leadmen and crews.
  • Monitor compliance by all employees under his/her supervision with all Company policies.
  • Continuously check the work of crew and adjust the work or plan and schedule as required.
  • Prioritize workload and operate within a defined budget.

Requirements

The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl

  • Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions
  • Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
  • May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
  • Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
  • May require U.S. Drivers License
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing and fit for duty medical
