Job summary

Sundt Inc. is seeking a Millwright helper to assist in planning, layout and maintaining mechanical equipment alignment on industrial projects. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to specifications and codes.

Candidates should have 1–2 years in industrial/construction settings, plus NCCER Core Curriculum or a high school diploma. Strong verbal and written communication is required for site coordination with foremen and other trades.

Responsibilities

• Assist Millwright in planning, layout, and installation of mechanical equipment.
• Maintain equipment alignment and perform maintenance according to plans and standards.
• Work with other trades as directed by supervision.
• Safely utilize tools and equipment; follow safety procedures at all times.
• Identify and eliminate waste and optimize methods with supervision input.
• Ask questions to supervisor if any aspect of the work is unclear.

Job description

Basic Job Functions

Assist Millwright in the planning, lay-out, and performance of all types of mechanical equipment setting, installation, alignment, and maintenance work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.

6. Effective Math skills - add, subtract, multiply and divide.
7. Learn to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment.
8. Eliminate WASTE such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
9. If unsure about any aspect of the work or issues regarding safe practices ask a supervisor before continuing.

Minimum Job Requirements

1. Must have a one - two years’ experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have a general understanding of the craft work being performed.
2. NCCER Core Curriculum and /or a High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
3. Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

1. Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.

2. Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
3. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
4. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
6. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
7. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
8. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
9. Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
