Job summary

Barnhart is hiring a Millwright to join a team that moves and installs heavy machinery nationwide. You’ll engage in rigging, alignment, and installation tasks on demanding projects, while working with experienced professionals on multi-site assignments.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical reasoning, good math skills, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, with travel and OT flexibility. A drug test and fit-for-duty assessment are required.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of mathematics, measurements, weights, and load balance principles.
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Flexibility to travel, work overtime, and adjust schedules as needed.
• Ability to pass a drug test and fit-for-duty assessment.
• Experience in rigging, construction, farmhand, or heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Move equipment and machinery using proper and safe rigging and lifting practices.
• Align, level, and anchor cranes and other equipment.
• Assemble and install supporting structures, rigging, hoists, and pulling gear.
• Connect pulleys and blocks to overhead structures using bolts, shackles, and clamps.
• Clean and prepare machines and component surfaces for installation and operation.
• Control the movement of heavy equipment through confined spaces and restricted areas.
• Dismantle, maintain, and properly store rigging equipment.
• Manipulate rigging lines and hoists to move or support materials, steel, and concrete.
• Select appropriate gear, cables, and shackles based on load requirements and job conditions.
• Signal and direct personnel involved in lifting and hoisting operations to ensure safe execution.
• Inspect and test rigging systems to verify safety and reliability before lifting operations begin.
