Millwright

Must be able to install, repair, replace, and dismantle machinery and heavy equipment used in industrial settings. This involves performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Replace defective parts of machines or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  2. Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
  3. Connect power units to machines or steam piping to equipment, and test units to evaluate mechanical operation.
  4. Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
  5. Assemble and install equipment using hand tools and power tools.
  6. Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  7. Signal crane operators to lower assembly units to bedplates and align units to centerline.
  8. Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts using hand tools and measuring instruments to set specified clearances.
  9. Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  10. Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic units using hand tools and power tools.
  11. Assemble machines and fasten them to foundations or structures via bolting, welding, riveting, etc.
  12. Lay out mounting holes, drill with power drills, and bolt parts to assemblies.
  13. Level bedplates and establish centerlines using levels, straightedges, and transit.
  14. Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  15. Shrink-fit bushings, gears, and wheels using portable gas heating equipment.
  16. Dismantle machinery for shipment, often working as part of a team for installation and maintenance.
  17. Construct foundations with hand tools and materials like wood, cement, and steel.
  18. Operate engine lathes for grinding, filing, and turning machine parts to specifications.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required For This Position

Education: No minimum education requirements.

Experience: 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
