Qualifications

  • Must have successfully completed 1 year of high school mathematics or an equivalent.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and capable of lifting 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Complete coursework through Portland Community College.
  • Perform on-the-job training under qualified Journeymen.
  • Maintain a current time log of training exposures.

Job description

The Millwright Apprenticeship is a 4 year program which will require on-the-job training and curriculum through Portland Community College. The program is outlined by EVRAZ and Pacific NW Industrial Maintenance and Millwright JATC – joint apprenticeship training committee.

ON-THE-JOB TRAINING:

  • Maintenance of heavy industrial production process equipment

  • Use of predictive maintenance tools such as vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis and laser alignment

  • Rigging and hoisting devices

  • Installation of bearings and lubrication and repair of parts

  • Trained in use of hand tools such as precision measuring tools

  • Machining and fabricating equipment and torqueing equipment

  • Blueprint and schematic reading

  • Hydraulic troubleshooting and repair

  • Keep accurate records using a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Other on-the-job training set forth by EVRAZ and Pacific NW Industrial Maintenance and Millwright JATC – joint apprenticeship training committee.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Satisfactorily complete coursework through Portland Community College (PCC)

  • Satisfactorily perform on-the-job training under a qualified Journeymen Millwright

  • Comply with rules, regulations and decisions set forth by EVRAZ and Pacific NW Industrial Maintenance and Millwright JATC – joint apprenticeship training committee

  • Maintain a current time log of training exposures on the monthly progress reports (MPR) provided by the committee

  • Maintain a position of punctuality, respectfulness, attentiveness, dependability and professionalism during working hours and after hours during classroom instruction at PCC

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma, equivalent GED certificate or have completed an Associate Degree or higher, accredited by an accreditor that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education;AND must have successfully completed 1 year of high school mathematics or an equivalent post-high school placement test or course*.

  • Must be able to successfully pass math placement test at PCC for placement into Math 60 (Algebra I)

  • Basic typing and computer skills

  • Must have a valid drivers license

  • Be able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, be in confined spaces and be at extreme heights

  • Must be able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust and noise

  • Must be able to work up to 12 hour shifts including weekends, holidays, additional shifts and rotating shifts

  • 2 year commitment to EVRAZ upon completing the apprenticeship (please refer to the tuition reimbursement policy)

  • Copy of High School and college transcripts (college transcripts if applicable) or GED test scores
