Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is hiring a skilled Millwright to install and align heavy machinery at our client sites. You will read mechanical drawings, position and align equipment, and assemble components to foundations using hand and power tools. Occasional welding and robot installation may be required.

The role requires up to 50 pounds lifting, working in hot or cold environments, and collaborating with a team of tradespeople to complete installations on time and safely.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Move machinery and equipment to work area using hoists and dollies.
• Form dry pack grout for machines using hand tools, wood, grout and steel.
• Align machines using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares and micrometers.
• Assemble machines and fasten to foundations with hand/power tools; welding may be required.
• Install equipment such as shafting and conveyors; fasten with tools.
• Install and align beams, bed plates, and establish centerline.
• Install pumps, valves, gauges and auxiliary equipment.
• Dismantle machines for shipment or demo.
• Repair and lubricate machinery as needed.
• Install robots and modify machines per request.
• Work in team of skilled trade workers on installation/maintenance.
• May perform precision alignment and vibration testing as part of duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Install machinery and heavy equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools in an industrial setting. In addition, perform setup, alignment and testing according to customer specifications and blueprints by performing the following duties in a safe and timely manner.

Job Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Move machinery and equipment to work area, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Form dry pack grout as needed for machines, using hand tools and building materials, such as wood, grout, and steel.
• Align machines and equipment and mobile equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and plumb bobs.
• Assemble machines, and bolts, rivets, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools. May require some welding.
• Assemble and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools.
• Assemble and install equipment, insert shims, level and adjust.
• Install beams and bed plates, level and establish centerline prior to equipment installation.
• Install any additional parts such as pumps, valves, gauges and auxiliary equipment.
• Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools for shipment or demo.
• May repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
• Will install robots and modify machine per request.
• May perform installation and maintenance work as part of team of skilled trade workers.
• A limited of millwrights will be required to perform precision alignment, vibration testing, run assessment and flushing requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Completed MIL course at a technical or trade school or a minimum of 3 years of experience working in the field.
• Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings, write and communicate clearly with supervisor and co-workers.
• Utilize basic math and a calculator to solve problems associated with installing equipment using precision measurement tools and devices.
• Employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
• Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and Criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
