Job summary

Handling Systems and Conveyors, Inc. seeks an experienced Millwright to manage the full lifecycle of industrial machinery—from installation and alignment to maintenance, repair, dismantling, and relocation across multiple facilities and sites.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on millwright work, strong abilities in reading blueprints, mechanical systems, and precision alignment, plus rigging, hoisting and heavy equipment operation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on millwright experience in industrial settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, alignment techniques and precision measurements.
  • Experience with rigging, hoisting and heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs regularly.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (domestic and international).
  • Flexibility to work variable schedules, including overtime, weekends and outages.
  • Comfortable working in non-climate-controlled and physically demanding environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble and align machinery according to engineering specifications and precision tolerances.
  • Execute equipment setups for new installations, upgrades and relocations.
  • Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, inspection tools and experience.
  • Replace or repair defective components to minimize downtime.
  • Safely dismantle machinery for transportation or upgrades and reassemble at new or existing locations.
  • Conduct precision alignment (laser or manual) and calibrate machinery to meet tolerances and safety standards.

Job description

Millwright is a highly skilled trades professional responsible for the full lifecycle of industrial machinery, including installation, alignment, maintenance, repair, dismantling, and relocation. This role requires precision, mechanical expertise, and the ability to work in demanding environments while ensuring operational efficiency and safety. Millwrights serve as critical contributors to production uptime, equipment reliability, and successful project execution across manufacturing facilities, power plants, and construction sites.

Key Qualifications & Core Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on millwright experience in industrial settings

Reporting Structure
  • Reports directly to the Millwright Superintendent.
  • Collaborates with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production Teams
  • Supports cross-functional department requests and project initiatives

  • Fully accountable for:
    • Quality of work performed
    • Adherence to safety standards
    • Project outcomes and timelines of delegated tasks
Core Responsibilities & Duties
Mechanical Installation & Assembly
  • Install, assemble, and align machinery according to engineering specifications and precision tolerances
  • Execute equipment setups for new installations, upgrades, and relocations
Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, inspection tools, and experience
  • Replace or repair defective components to minimize downtime
Dismantling & Relocation
  • Safely dismantle machinery for transportation or upgrades
  • Reassemble and recalibrate equipment at new or existing locations
  • Ensure equipment integrity throughout the relocation process
Alignment & Calibration
  • Conduct precision alignment (laser or manual) for optimal performance
  • Calibrate machinery to meet operational tolerances and safety standards
