Canfor is hiring a Millwright at the Iron Mountain Sawmill in El Dorado, AR. The role focuses on keeping high-performance milling equipment running, with preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance to maximize uptime.

You’ll troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, work with a team, and contribute to a safe, sustainable manufacturing environment, including weekend rotation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment is a plus; lumber process knowledge is an asset.
  • Basic electrical knowledge for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems on heavy machinery.
  • Experience using a CMMS to schedule and document maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain mill machinery including pumps, conveyors, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance; inspect equipment for faults.

Working as a Millwright, you know the ins and outs of keeping industrial production machinery up and running. You have a natural ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex mechanical issues, and you’re looking to expand your knowledge with a fantastic company where safety and sustainability are the most critical priorities. This is a permanent, full-time position, featuring a rotational schedule that may include weekend work.

What you will do as a Millwright:
  • Working with a high-performance team dedicated to maintaining all mill machinery including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems involved in the manufacturing process.
  • Keeping our systems running smoothly by performing preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance. This includes inspecting machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Applying your knowledge, skills, and experience to troubleshoot issues, boost equipment reliability and implement safe, reliable fixes maximizing production uptime.
  • Having great attention to detail to identify and request relevant parts to complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Accountability for assisting in a safe work environment.
Experience and skills that will help you stand out:
  • Superior troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment would be considered a plus. Knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process would be an asset.
  • Basic electrical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair machinery components.
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems on heavy manufacturing machinery.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) effectively to schedule and document maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with other maintenance professionals, operations, production staff, and supervisors.
  • A high degree of urgency.
