Job summary

Hood Lumber, a division of Hood Industries, Inc., seeks a skilled Millwright for our Bogalusa, LA facility to maintain and repair production equipment using proper tools and safety practices.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of plant maintenance experience with mechanical and hydraulic systems, plus a high school diploma or GED; an Associate degree is preferred. Varying shifts may be required, with comprehensive benefits offered to eligible employees.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in mechanical and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Use tools to safely repair and maintain production equipment.
  • Repair belts, hoses, valves, sprockets, motors, bearings, and other parts in a production environment.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and initiate reorders as needed.
  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication when necessary.
  • Repair hydraulic units and oiling systems.
  • Operate forklift or mobile crane on occasion.
  • Communicate with coworkers and management about maintenance issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies.

Job description

Hood Lumber, a division of Hood Industries, Inc. is seeking a Millwright for our Bogalusa, LA facility.

Position Description:
  • Uses all proper and necessary tools to safely repair and maintain production/manufacturing equipment.
  • Repairs/replaces belts, hoses, valves, sprockets, chains, motors, spindles, blades, bearings, and other machine parts in a production environment.
  • Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
  • Performs metal working (welding, cutting, fabricating) when necessary.
  • Repairs/replaces hydraulic units – oiling units and equipment (chains/sprockets).
  • Operates a forklift, mobile crane, or other rolling stock on occasion.
  • Communicates regularly with co-workers and management to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Implements projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. Responds to repair and modification requests from the Safety Committee and/or HR/Safety Manager.
  • May also have additional responsibilities related to the operations of the plant, as assigned.
  • Available to work any shifts and weekends as needed.

  • Minimum of 3 years of plant millwright or maintenance experience, with a strong background in mechanical and hydraulic systems.

  • PayScale $26.00-$32.00.
