  • Collaborate with engineers to improve system functionality.
  • Adhere to safety protocols including LOTO and PPE.
  • Maintain organized records of maintenance activities and parts.
  • Assist in training apprentices and team members.

McMillen, Inc. is looking for a Millwright. This position involves assembling, maintaining, and machining components critical to the infrastructure of water resource facilities. The ideal candidate will combine mechanical expertise, machining skills, and a strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, align, and maintain pumps, valves, motors, gearboxes, and other mechanical components used in water treatment and distribution systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including disassembly, replacement, and reassembly of parts.
  • Operate lathes, milling machines, and other precision tools to fabricate and repair parts for water resource equipment.
  • Modify or customize components to meet specific operational needs.
  • Perform welding and fabrication for infrastructure repair and reinforcement.
  • Inspect mechanical systems for wear, corrosion, and performance issues.
  • Conduct tests to verify the efficiency and reliability of equipment after repairs or installations.
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement solutions for improving system functionality.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space entry, and other water industry safety practices.
  • Ensure all repairs and modifications comply with industry regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to minimize hazards.
  • Work closely with engineers, operators, and maintenance teams to coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and equipment performance.
  • Assist in training team members or apprentices on machinery and safety practices.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of a millwright or machinist apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
  • Familiarity with pumps, valves, and other water treatment and distribution system components.
  • Proficiency in operating machining tools, including lathes, mills, and grinders.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions (wet, noisy, or confined spaces).
  • Must be comfortable working at heights or in tight spaces when necessary.
  • Adherence to strict safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
