Job summary

Merritt Woodwork in Mentor, OH is seeking a motivated Veneer Apprentice to learn and assist with preparing, cutting, matching, laying, and pressing wood veneer for high‑end millwork and cabinetry. You will work alongside experienced craftspeople to develop precision and craftsmanship.

The role offers hands‑on training, a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and exposure to ultra‑luxury projects. Applicants should demonstrate reliability, safety mindset, and a strong desire to learn.

Qualifications

• Experience in wood shop or cabinetry preferred.
• Ability to read basic measurements and follow instructions.
• Strong interest in high-end woodworking craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Learn veneer preparation, grain matching, edge work, sanding and finishing.
• Assist with preparing, cutting, matching, laying, and pressing veneer.
• Work alongside experienced craftspeople on luxury millwork projects.

Veneer Apprentice (Mentor, OH)

6:00 AM – 3:30 PM | Monday – Friday

Learn the craft of creating high-end custom interiors for ultra-luxury projects!

We are seeking a motivated Veneer Apprentice to learn and assist with preparing, cutting, matching, laying, and pressing wood veneer for custom millwork and cabinetry. This position will work alongside experienced craftspeople while developing skills in veneer preparation, grain matching, edge work, sanding, and finishing.

Qualifications:

• Previous woodworking, cabinetry, furniture, or shop experience a plus
• Strong interest in learning high-end woodworking craftsmanship
• Ability to read basic measurements and follow instructions
• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
• Reliable, safety-minded, and willing to learn
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
