About The Job

We’re looking for a skilled Custom Millwork Production Lead to take charge of day-to-day operations in our millwork shop while also coordinating seamlessly with the field team during deliveries and installations. This is a position that requires strong leadership in the shop and hands-on coordination in the field to ensure a smooth transition from fabrication to final install.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  1. Shop Responsibilities
    • Lead the custom millwork team in building high-quality cabinetry, casework, trim, and architectural elements
    • Schedule and oversee daily shop production activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines
    • Interpret shop drawings and communicate technical details clearly to the team
    • Maintain quality control throughout fabrication, assembly, and finish prep stages
    • Oversee material take-offs and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely deliveries
    • Maintain safety standards, tool maintenance schedules, and general shop organization
  2. Field Coordination Responsibilities
    • Act as the primary liaison between the shop and field teams
    • Coordinate delivery logistics and ensure all components are ready for transport and install
    • Support field crews during install prep, site measurements, and on-site adjustments
    • Conduct field visits as needed to verify dimensions, troubleshoot install issues, or review site conditions
    • Communicate with project managers, superintendents, and clients to align expectations and resolve issues quickly
    • Ensure proper handling, protection, and finishing of millwork components on-site
  3. Non-essential Functions & Responsibilities
    • Assist with general shop maintenance
    • Help clean and organize workspaces as needed
    • Support machine lubrication and dust collection maintenance
    • Provide occasional cross-training and guidance to team members unfamiliar with CNC equipment or millwork processes
    • Fill in for other roles during absences or low workload periods
    • Participate in team meetings, safety or production meetings, and contribute workflow improvement ideas
    • Support material handling and assist with receiving or organizing raw materials and hardware
    • Help move finished products to staging or delivery zones
    • Engage in light administrative tasks such as updating spreadsheets, job logs, or printing job tickets
    • Join optional equipment or software demonstrations and participate in professional development sessions
    • Assist in organizing team events to promote culture and morale
    • Represent production in cross-departmental committees
  4. Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements
    • High school diploma or GED; completion of a carpentry apprenticeship preferred
    • At least three years of carpentry experience, focusing on finish carpentry
    • Proficiency in reading blueprints and using hand and power tools safely
    • Physical stamina for tasks including lifting heavy materials, climbing, and working at heights
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent verbal communication skills
    • Valid carpenter’s license or certification may be required depending on region
    • Ability to work in shop and on-site environments, with occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and extended hours based on project deadlines
