Job summary

gpac is seeking a Millwork Engineer / Draftsman to support the design, drafting, engineering, and CNC production of custom architectural woodworking projects. Strong AutoCAD skills are essential, with experience in WoodWOP, WoodCAD|CAM, or CutRite a plus.

This on-site, full-time position runs Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM. Competitive compensation based on experience, with health benefits, PTO, a 401(k), and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD; strong drafting ability.
  • Experience creating and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Experience with woodworking, cabinetry, architectural millwork, or custom fabrication is preferred.
  • WoodWOP, WoodCAD|CAM or Microvellum/iX experience is a strong plus.
  • CNC programming experience beneficial, with training possible for strong AutoCAD skills.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review detailed AutoCAD shop drawings for architectural woodworking and millwork projects.
  • Interpret plans, specs, and project requirements to develop accurate shop drawings.
  • Prepare and modify drawings based on project specs, field conditions, and client/architect feedback.
  • Prepare CNC programs using CAD/CAM software like WoodWOP, WoodCAD|CAM, and CutRite.
  • Collaborate with project managers, production teams, engineers, and shop personnel to translate drawings into finished products.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, dimensions, materials, and hardware.
  • Assist with troubleshooting design and production issues.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy; work independently and in a team.

Millwork Engineer / Draftsman

Location: On-Site Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-4:00 PM Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

We are seeking a Millwork Engineer / Draftsman to join our team and support the design, drafting, engineering, and CNC production of custom architectural woodworking projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong AutoCAD skills and an interest in architectural millwork and CNC manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and review detailed AutoCAD shop drawings for architectural woodworking and millwork projects.
  • Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate shop drawings.
  • Prepare and modify drawings based on project specifications, field conditions, and client/architect feedback.
  • Prepare CNC machine programs using CAD/CAM software such as WoodWOP, WoodCAD|CAM, and CutRite.
  • Collaborate with project managers, production teams, engineers, and shop personnel to ensure drawings accurately translate into finished products.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, dimensions, materials, and hardware.
  • Assist with troubleshooting design and production issues.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Work independently while contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD - this is the primary skill required for the position.
  • Experience creating and reviewing shop drawings is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with woodworking, cabinetry, carpentry, architectural millwork, or custom fabrication is highly preferred.
  • Experience with WoodCAD|CAM or Microvellum/iX is a strong plus.
  • CNC programming experience is beneficial, but training can be provided for candidates with strong AutoCAD skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of dimensions, materials, fabrication, and construction methods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before production.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
  • Must be team-oriented and able to communicate effectively with production and project management teams.
Schedule & Work Environment
  • Full-time position
  • Monday through Friday
  • 7:00 AM-4:00 PM
  • On-site position - not eligible for remote work
  • Collaborative environment with opportunities to develop additional CAD/CAM and CNC programming skills.
