Job summary

Tikvah Fund seeks working professionals and educators to facilitate the Millstone Scholars program in local cities across the United States. This part-time, in-person role is based in the educator’s cohort city (e.g., Chicago, IL) with cohorts of 10–12 students meeting weekly for 75 minutes over eight months.

Period of Employment: September 2026 – May 2027. Compensation ranges from $8,000 to $10,000, commensurate with experience and skill.

Qualifications

• Experience with middle school-aged children is a plus.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to foster respectful dialogue and encourage critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lessons and activities based on curriculum;
• Facilitate engaging classroom discussions that promote debate and analysis of historical events;
• Record attendance and submit short seminar reflections;
• Collaborate with Millstone faculty and educator team;
• Maintain ongoing communication with parents;
• Submit evaluations and share requested feedback with program administrators;
• Assist with Millstone extracurricular opportunities (e.g., debate and field trips).

About the Millstone Scholars Program

Millstone Scholars is a National Honors program for 7th & 8th graders attending public and secular independent schools in communities across the US. Entering its 5th year with 30 cohorts around the U.S. and growing, students meet weekly over a full academic year in seminar-style classes to explore Jewish texts, the story of modern Israel, and the influence of Jewish ideas on America, strengthening Jewish identity.

About the role

Seeking working professionals and educators passionate about Jewish education to facilitate the Millstone program in local cities across the country. This is a part‑time, in‑person position based in the city of the educator’s cohort(s). Cohorts are typically 10–12 students and meet once per week for 75 minutes over the 8‑month academic year.

Hiring locations: California (East Bay, San Francisco, Redwood City, San Diego); Connecticut (Westport); Florida (Boca Raton, Miami, Palm Beach Gardens); Georgia (Atlanta); Illinois (Chicago); Nevada (Las Vegas); New Jersey (Bergen County, Short Hills, East Brunswick); New York (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island); Texas (Austin, Dallas).

Curriculum trimesters: Fall – The Foundations of Jewish Thought; Winter – The Founding of Modern Israel; Spring – The Jewish Experience in America.

Responsibilities

Experience and Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred (not required);
• Experience with middle school-aged children preferred (not required);
• Effective classroom management;
• Excellent verbal and written communication;
• Ability to engage and inspire students, parents, and families;
• Ability to foster respectful dialogue and encourage critical thinking;
• Strong knowledge of Jewish and Zionist values, texts, and philosophy;
• Working knowledge of Tikvah’s work and alignment with its mission.

Period of Employment: September 2026 – May 2027.

Compensation: Salary $8k–$10k commensurate with experience and skill.
