Job summary

Tate & Lyle in California is seeking a diligent production operator to fill containers, perform final inspection, and support continuous 24/7 operations in a high-demand manufacturing environment.

You will manage batch records in SAP/EBS, stage products for shipping, and cooperate with multiple shifts while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. Strong self-management and teamwork are essential to succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Fill product containers and perform final inspection prior to shipping.
  • Operate on 8–hour shifts with 7 days a week coverage and occasional overtime up to 12 hours.
  • Manually fill containers and stage product on pallets for shipping; operate product screen and magnet units.
  • Maintain accurate records via manual batch sheets and SAP and EBS data systems.
  • Troubleshoot simple mechanical issues and communicate repair needs.
  • Promote process efficiency and safe work practices; follow cGMP and PPE requirements.
  • Lift and move heavy drums and equipment up to 75 lbs; lift up to 55 lbs and handle 220-lb drums.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operator is responsible for filling product containers and final inspection prior to shipping. This is a seven day a week, 24-hour function. Scheduled on 8-hour shifts, with occasional overtime work extended to 12-hour shifts. This position requires a high level of self-management, punctuality, good attendance, and the ability to adjust to a variety of assignments throughout the shift. The employee must be able to perform job duties with minimal direct supervision and is required to follow an established performance protocol in meeting customary work goals. Manually fills containers with product and stages product on pallets for shipping. Operates product screen and magnet units to protect product from adulteration or foreign matter. Completes pass down sheets to provide production/packaging information for the next shift. Maintains accurate records via manual batch sheets and SAP and EBS data-based record keeping systems. Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail in these tasks to record information concerning product quality as well as monitoring inventory. Responsible for troubleshooting mechanical problems using basic tools for repairs such as rotary valves or ball valves and/or communicating repair needs. Demonstrates effective teamwork behavior, promotion of process efficiency, and effectively communicate safety and procedural issues with coworkers and supervisor. Has ability to perform under conditions of continuous physical activity in the manual transfer of product. Requires continuously performing all duties under conditions that require adherence to safety standards. Requires knowledge of all environmental requirements and environmental permits for this work area. Responsible for regular housekeeping of the work area consistent with cGMP Policy including Operates high speed blenders and must be able to follow proper safety procedures when cleaning blenders and on bake-outs. Must follow, state, and federal guidelines concerning safety and environmental protection. Proper use of PPE conforming to Level C (general) & Level A (packaging room) standards is required. Mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) include a minimum of a hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection devices, steeled-toed footwear, gloves (hand protection), long pants and long-sleeve shirt. Additional PPE may include respirators, smocks, coveralls, hair/beard nets, and/or masks as required by the GMP Policy. The employee must be capable of operating forklifts, carts, and specific packaging machinery, grasping, pushing and pulling up to a maximum of 75 pounds and are able to lift 55 lbs. It is also necessary to tilt and roll 220-pound drums on and off pallets. Visual acuity requirements include normal depth perception and 20/30 vision with or without correction.
