Job summary

Nippon Paint Automotive Americas Inc. is seeking a Milling Operator for the 2nd shift to run mills and prepare production batches in the Milling plant.

The role involves operating KD Dyno Mills, ECM Dyno Mills, and Netzsch Turbo Mills, handling bulk systems, scales, mixers, and related equipment. The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED and strong communication skills, with safety awareness and the ability to work overtime as needed to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Follows and Adheres to Company SOPs, batch tickets, and process sheets.
  • Follows and Adheres to Company Safety Policies.
  • Operate equipment used to fill batches or clean mill systems: mills, scales/load cells, tank mixers, bulk loading system, filling pumps, filling machines, etc.
  • Monitor mills, tanks, and other process parameters and equipment.
  • Fill finished goods into proper containers per customer IDs and label containers.
  • Operate forklift to move materials.
  • Participate on improvement teams and submit ideas.
  • Identify potential off-quality products and initiate corrective actions.
  • Utilize SAP, Microsoft Access Database, and Microsoft Office to complete orders in Milling.
  • Maintain housekeeping in lab and production areas.
  • Maintain all testing equipment.
  • Perform activities in other Operations areas outside Milling as required.
  • Move waste to 90-day Storage Area and properly label waste containers.

The position is scheduled for 2nd shift, with potential flexibility needed for off-shift training .

POSITION SUMMARY:

A Milling Operator is responsible for the operation of department mills and filling of production batches in the Milling plant. This includes the use of KD Dyno Mills, ECM Dyno Mills, NetzschTurbo Mills, bulk systems, scales/load cells, mixers, drum dumpers and any additional equipment required to complete daily tasks. Position will also support job activities in other Operations areas including, but not limited to Small Paint Plant, Large Paint Plant, Waterbase, & Shading.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follows and Adheres to Company Standard Operating Procedures, batch tickets, and process sheets.
  • Follows and Adheres to Company Safety Policies
  • Operate equipment used to fill batches or clean mill systems: mills, scales/load cells, tank mixers, bulk loading system, filling pumps, filling machines, etc.
  • Monitor mills, tanks, and other process parameters & equipment.
  • Fill finished goods into proper containers per customer specific IDIOS and make container labels.
  • Operate forklift to move materials.
  • Participate on improvement teams and submit ideas.
  • Identifies potential off-quality products during the process and initiates appropriate corrective actions through established company abnormal process.
  • Utilizes company IT equipment such as SAP, Microsoft Access Database, & Microsoft Office to complete orders in the Milling process.
  • Maintains housekeeping within the lab and production areas.
  • Maintains all testing equipment.
  • Perform job activities in Operations areas outside of Milling as required.
  • Move waste from generation point to 90-day Storage Area
  • Properly close and label waste containers using NB Coatings procedures
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries, and/or complaints
  • Displays courtesy, tact and respect when dealing with others.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to wear a respirator/all necessary PPE – including being clean shaven for respirator use
  • Ability to work with isocyanate
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships; demonstrates a commitment to teamwork
  • Maintains a strong attention to detail
  • Developed computer skills in Excel, Word and other office programs
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to work any shift hours and overtime in order to meet the needs of the business.
