Job summary

NPAA is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to repair and service mechanical equipment across manufacturing, laboratory, and office environments in Illinois. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and keep facilities running safely and efficiently.

This role requires interpretation of mechanical and electrical schematics, welding and piping experience, and the ability to work off-shift when needed. Valid driver’s license and hands-on problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Technical School Certification or 2-3 years’ experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in automation or fabrication required.
  • Ability to interpret basic mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Experience with Welding and Piping Assembly preferred
  • Have valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance activities and repair work orders.
  • Trouble-shoot process equipment issues (pumps, agitators, valves, air compressors, etc.) and perform repairs.
  • Trouble-shoot motor control systems and replace defective devices (fuses, motor starters, relays).
  • Trouble-shoot plant instrumentation (flow meters, level meters, transmitters).
  • Mobile equipment repairs (forklifts, Arial lifts).
  • Maintain systems to be mechanically compliant with state of Illinois (Fire System, boilers, pollution control).
  • Fabrication and piping skills (welding, piping assembly) strongly preferred.
  • Participate in site improvement programs (management of change, safety reviews).

POSITION SUMMARY:

Repairs and services mechanical equipment in manufacturing process, laboratories, and offices.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform various preventive maintenance activities, complete repair work orders, and generally maintain site facility services.
  • Trouble-shoot process equipment issues (pumps, agitators, valves, air compressors, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic power systems, packaging equipment, etc.) and perform repairs.
  • Trouble-shoot motor control systems and replace defective devices such as fuses, motor starters, relays, power supplies etc.
  • Trouble-shoot plant instrumentation such as flow meters, level meters, flow switches, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters and perform repairs.
  • Mobile equipment repairs such as forklifts, Arial lifts, pallet-lifting equipment.
  • Maintain systems to be mechanically compliant with the state of Illinois such as the Facility Fire System, Steam boilers, and pollution control equipment.
  • Fabrication and piping skills such as welding and piping assembly strongly preferred.
  • Participate in various site improvement programs such as Management of Change, New Equipment Safety reviews, Departmental Safety program.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma
  • Technical School Certification or 2-3 years’ experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in automation or fabrication required.
  • Ability to interpret basic mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Experience with Welding and Piping Assembly preferred
  • Have valid driver’s license
SALARY RANGE:

$25.10 to $38.23. Compensation for this role is negotiable based on experience and skill set.
