Position Overview

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Milled Spar Sanding Machine Operator to join our Fabrication team in Auburn, Washington. As a Milled Spar Sanding Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting sanding machines to achieve precise surface finishes on components, interpreting blueprints and specifications, and ensuring high-quality standards. You will collaborate with various teams, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment, all while adhering to safety protocols. Your role is essential in maintaining our commitment to excellence in aviation.

Responsibilities

  1. Set up, operate, and adjust sanding machines to meet quality standards.
  2. Interpret blueprints, work orders, and specifications to determine surface finish requirements.
  3. Perform hand finishing touch-ups as needed.
  4. Inspect finished parts for quality and report irregularities.
  5. Maintain records of operations and monitor machine condition.
  6. Coordinate with other departments regarding machine operations.
  7. Lead lower classification employees when necessary.
  8. Handle loading/unloading of parts and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  9. Read manufacturing plans and troubleshoot issues.
  10. Ensure safety and proper disposal of hazardous materials.

Physical Demands and Hazards

  • Perform physical tasks including lifting and handling materials.
  • Work in environments with metals, solvents, and coolants.
  • Operate near moving parts and tools, with safety gear.

Additional Requirements

  • This position is 100% onsite at the specified location.
  • Must meet Export Control compliance as a “US Person”.
  • Resumes from current Boeing Puget Sound employees are accepted.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years reading engineering blueprints/drawings.
  • 3+ years using hand tools or power tools.
  • 1+ years with basic math skills.
  • Experience working in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer proficiency in a production environment.
  • Experience in fabrication of temporary tooling.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is not available; candidates must reside nearby or relocate at their own expense.
  • This is a 2nd shift position.
  • Pay range: $25.00 - $49.92/hour.
