Job summary

Samuel, Son & Co. is expanding its Birmingham, Alabama tube mill team. We are seeking a skilled Mill Welder to keep the mill fed with material, perform quality checks, and assist in changeovers and maintenance.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where safety and accuracy are critical. Ideal candidates will have welding experience (stick welding preferred), mechanical aptitude, and the ability to follow detailed instructions.

Qualifications

• Must have mechanical inclination and the ability to understand and follow detailed instructions.
• Demonstrated safety awareness and the ability to work in a fast paced industrial setting.
• Highly self-motivated and reliable with good teamwork skills.
• Prior welding experience is required; stick welding is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a three-person mill team to ensure safe, quality operation.
• Keep mills fed with material and monitor material splices to prevent customer impact.
• Perform administrative tasks related to production and record keeping.
• Monitor quality on the tube mill and assist in changeovers.
• Assist in 5S housekeeping and preventive maintenance duties.

Must have the following:

• Mechanical inclination
• Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions
• Highly self-motivated.
• Must have Prior Welding experience preferably stick welding, but any welding experience is a plus.
• This person is responsible for keeping the mill fed with material and following material splices through the machine to ensure they do not make it to a customer.
• This person is also responsible for posting all Tube Mill production accurately, quality monitoring on the tube mill, and assisting in all aspects of tube mill change over as well as preventive maintenance and 5s / housekeeping duties.
• This is a physical fast paced job and is critical to the operation of the tube mills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform administrative tasks as it pertains to production and complete all production records accurately.
• Monitor quality on the tube mill.
• Assist in mill changeovers, 5s and preventative maintenance duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working in a manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial setting.
• Prior experience performing quality checks on material.Prior welding experience. Stick welding considered a strong asset.
