Job description

POSITION: Mill-Turn Operator
STATUS: Non-Exempt (hourly)
REPORTS TO: Team Lead-General Manager

LOCATION: Mukwonago, WI

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mill-Turn Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will operate and maintain CNC mill-turn machines to produce high-precision parts according to engineering specifications, ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and safety in a fast-paced environment.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC mill-turn (or other relevant machinery) to perform precision turning/milling operations on various materials according to design specifications.
  • Programming: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and setup sheets; use CNC programming software (Esprit) or manual programming for machining jobs.
  • Quality Control: Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, and gauges to meet quality standards, following quality plans.
  • Tool Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, report issues, and collaborate with maintenance teams.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety guidelines, keep work area organized, and operate machines safely.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve machine or tooling issues to minimize downtime.
  • Documentation: Complete production reports, track parts, and maintain records.
  • Collaboration: Work with engineers, quality control, and supervisors to ensure timely and quality production.
  • All other duties as assigned.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with multi-axis CNC turning mills and advanced machine tools.
  • Knowledge of tooling selection and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating CNC Mill/Turn or similar machines.
  • Strong CNC programming, setup, and operation skills; CAD/CAM familiarity is a plus.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and perform precise measurements; GD&T knowledge.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and safety knowledge per OSHA standards.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods; good manual dexterity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work may be off the shop floor with low to moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
