Job summary

Gerdau seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to keep a steel mill running safely and efficiently. You will diagnose, dismantle, repair, and reassemble mill components, perform preventive maintenance, and document work while guarding against environmental hazards.

Expect a rotating schedule and opportunities for growth. Required is 3–5 years in heavy industrial maintenance, with knowledge of motors, gearboxes, lubrication, welding, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rigging; Ramsey test

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of heavy machinery maintenance in an industrial environment.
• Knowledge of AC/DC motors, gearbox mechanics, lubrication principles, welding, NFPA 70E.
• Knowledge of pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, stick and TIG welding, and rigging principles.
• Communication skills to collaborate with supervisors, engineers, maintenance, and production operators.
• Successful completion of the Ramsey Mechanical Maintenance Test.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions by observing, safely operating equipment, and determine repair vs. replace.
• Dismantle, repair, lubricate, reassemble, and install parts to OEM standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance: inspect, clean, lubricate, and adjust feed, speed, and power input/output.
• Tear down, replace, install, and assemble parts and accessories to OEM standards.
• Document work and flag environmental hazards identified during duties.

Moments later, you’re at a mill stand tracing a vibration to a gearbox issue. You lock out, tear down, replace components, and bring the line back up.
